Our homestead
At West Range Station, we are a 4th generation family farm, which was first established in 1913 before being purchased by the Chamberlain family in 1944. We are born and bred Southlanders.

The station is 2,300 ha set in sleepy Western Southland, amongst the shadow of the Takitimu and Princess Mountains, with rolling green hills leading down to the stony flats of the braided Wairaki River.

West Range is a working beef and sheep station, running around 20,000 stock units.  We are devoted to being sustainable and environmentally conscious so that our beautiful property can be the best it can be for the next generation.  In 2017, we were Finalists in the Southland Balance Farm Environment Awards.

We built the new homestead in 2003 and surrounded it with many  trees and gardens, providing a perfect setting for watching the sunset on the Takitimus, where you can enjoy a home-cooked meal and chat with us over a tipple of choice.
